UNSPSC changes between versions: items are added, edited, moved and deleted, and a code that was right in one version can be wrong in the next. Before quoting a code in a tender, a catalogue, a purchase order or a report, check the current codeset published by the United Nations Development Programme, which has managed UNSPSC since 1 January 2025, and check any rules of the buyer, register or portal that will hold the record. Where a buyer asks for a code at a particular level, that buyer’s instruction outranks any general explanation here.
